How Are the Intensity and Coverage of LED Grow Lights Measured?

How Are the Intensity and Coverage of LED Grow Lights Measured?

Every led grows light you look at should have information about its footprint. The Led coverage area refers to how the light source beam will illuminate much canopy space. Because your grow room or tent needs a certain amount of light and the right kind, the footprint is essential. But there is also a relationship between Led grow lights' intensity and the area they cover, which is very important.

This is called the inverse square law of light. In this case, we won't bother you with complicated math. The farther an object is from the light source; the less intense its light is when it gets to that object. And the brightness quickly goes down. You have a lamp hanging 1 foot away from your canopy. Then, you raise the hanging height to 2 feet. Before, you would have had a light intensity 1/4 of what it used to be. Right?

This is why the coverage area is so essential. It's not just the size and lenses of your LED grow light that determine how far it can cover. Hanging height also plays a role. The more space between your lights and the canopy, the bigger the footprint will be—however, the less intense the morning, the better. A light, it's essential to pay attention to how high it hangs and how much it lights up.

Finally, when you grow different crops, the coverage from same model led changes, as does the coverage when you hang the led at different heights from the plants.
